MIDNIGHT SKIN

The room is dark with shadows feigning

Melancholy airs, ordaining

Some deep mystery to begin,

As you wrap me up in midnight skin.

A branch against the window brushing

Softly snares your gentle blushing

Chest and cheek and lifted chin,

As you wrap me up in midnight skin.

The candle's flame in fits of flutter

Guides your touch of melted butter,

Gives my mind an easy spin,

As you wrap me up in midnight skin.

Just you and me with time to squander

Over fields of flesh to wander,

Places where we've never been,

As you wrap me up in midnight skin.

For my wife, Mimi
