LET ME CROSS MY HEART

VERSE 1

We've come half way round the world

To this midpoint in our lives

And the things we've seen and done

Lit the passion in our eyes

Been through hell and back again

    to this harbor paradise.

CHORUS

Out this vantage windowsill

Looking back across it all

From this foreign port of call

Standing here with you my love

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

VERSE 2

Over land we've found our way

    Through the stinging desert sands

And the raging winds at sea

Tore the rigging from our hands

Still we made it here as one

    Safe within these harbor strands

CHORUS

Out this vantage windowsill

Looking back across it all

From this foreign port of call

Standing here with you my love

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

BRIDGE

You, love, were the one I could lean on

You, love, kept me strong through the night

Yes you, love, and always your loving

Will take all the wrong and make it all right.

CHORUS

Out this vantage windowsill

Looking back across it all

From this foreign port of call

standing here with you my love

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

Let me cross my heart and hope to die with you

Written expressly for Mimi

on the occasion of our 10th wedding anniversary.

KILI CLIMBING SONG

Step by step, step by step,

Nice and slow, nice and slow,

Up, up, Kilimanjaro

Chorus

Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro

Breath by breath, breath by breath,

Here we go, here we go,

Up, up Kilimanjaro.

Pole by pole, pole by pole

Rocks and snow, rocks and snow,

Up, up, Kilimanjaro.

Thought by thought, thought by thought,

Make it so, make it so,

Up, up, Kilimanjaro.

OUR GIVEN PLACE

This clear eyed island night of stars

Reduces me to something slight,

And even this great earth of ours

With so much power, so much might,

A place of true magnificence,

Somehow escapes significance,

Except as God redeems our race

By offering His gift of grace

And through His Son, our given place.

There’s so much space between the stars,

I seem so small, I seem so slight,

And even spinning orbs like ours,

Displaying unimagined might

Of truly grand magnificence,

Are still beyond significance.

Except as God redeems our race

By offering His gift of grace

And through His Son, our given place.

Our world is lost among the stars,

And we upon its surface slight;

Its greatness more than that of ours,

In ordered magnitudes of might;

And yet it’s bright magnificence

Attains no real significance.

Except as God redeems our race

By offering His gift of grace

And through His Son, our given place.

WE GO WITH GOD

We go with God around the world

Just as we go each day,

No matter where the road may lead

   We're always on His Way,

   We're always on His Way.

He leads us through the light and dark

Through storm and flood and fear

And though at times our courage fails

   We feel Him ever near.

   We feel Him ever near.

This world belongs to Him alone

   And He our only Guide

He shows himself in all He's made

And fills our hearts with pride

And fills our hearts with pride.

For He is Lord, our Father God

   And His, the open road

He points the ways that we should go

   And lifts our heavy load

   And lifts our heavy load.

We go with God around the world

Just as we go each day,

No matter where the road may lead

   We're always on His Way,

   We're always on His Way.

Encinitas, California (Encinitas Cafe)

Hymn Lyrics [8.6.8.6.6]

JOURNAL:  Thanks to Cameron at the Encinitas Cafe, who invited me to sit down and have a cup of coffee and enjoy this WIFI connection for 20 minutes (or more) until they close for night, I'm able to post my blog.  E street cafe was already closed.  Thanks Cameron!  Thanks Encinitas Cafe.  And, I might add, the coffee is delicious.

Went to second service with Mom and Mimi.  I was late getting ready so Mom went ahead.  Gino lead the song service and Tim gave the sermon on the last few verses of Mark 10 about Blind Bartemeas.  An excellent story.  An excellent sermon.  Went up and talked to Gino after the sermon about our around the world trip and how we want this year to be one of learning about and loving mankind in broader better way.  About how we wanted our ordinary around the world trip be be an extraordinary trip around the world becuase we are Christians, followers of Jesus, walking and working everyday in every way in the misssion field of this world.  He gave us his enthusiastic blessing reminding us to be generous with the gifts we have received.  He said it'll probably take us a year to adjust to our new situation.  He suggested that God is leading us in a new and wonderful direction.

Packed out things after church and drove to San Diego for dinner with Halley & John and Anna & Harv at the Brigantine in La Mesa.  We shared a couple bottles of Pinot Noir over Halibut and Salmon and Prime Rib, and a whole lot of great conversation...and laughs.  John is crack-up!  Well seasoned and unflappable.  He's been going through some serious kidney issues over the past six months and handling it all in stride.

What a great day it has been.

MIDNIGHT HYMN

O God of all created things

From whom all light and power flow,

Your Spirit fills our hearts with joy

And guides us onward as we go

And guides us onward as we go.

You gave Your one and only Son

To pay the debt we could not pay

To meet the measure of Your law

And search us out if we should stray

And search us out if we should stray.

We sleep in safety here tonight

Because Your Spirit hovers near

To soothe our minds and give us rest

And chase away our every fear

And chase away our every fear.

O God of all our space and time

Who winds the clocks for all our days

You give us everything we need

And so we give You all our praise

And so we give You all our praise.

WITH JOY UNSPEAKABLY EXTREME

Our God defends us every day

Protects us from the Devil's snares

His Holy Spirit lights our way

We walk in truth where no one dares

We walk in truth where no one dares

We walk in truth where no one dares

His Holy Spirit lights our way

We walk in truth where no one dares

In Christ we stand where others fall

Our confidence in Him complete

At His sweet Spirit's whispered call

We leap by faith without defeat

We leap by faith without defeat

We leap by faith without defeat

At His sweet Spirit's whispered call

We leap by faith without defeat

The Holy Spirit fills our minds

With joy unspeakably extreme

In nothing else such joy we find

For by His blood we are redeemed

For by His blood we are redeemed

For by His blood we are redeemed

In nothing else such joy we find

For by His blood we are redeemed

LET LOOSE THE SONG

Let loose the song of gladness

Let loose the song of praise

Lift up His grace and goodness

The Father of our joyful days

   Refrain

O Lord of all we praise Your name

The source of Light's eternal flame

Your love from age to age the same

   All glory to Your name.

Let loose angelic voices

Let loose the Melody

Embrace His flawless choices

The Architect of Harmony

Let loose the obligatos

Let loose the clarion call

Recite His endless cantos

The Anthem of the All in All

Let loose the royal choir

Let loose ten thousands songs

Crescendo high and higher

The Center of the circling throngs

(48) April 12, 2010: Abide With Me

Posted by D. Edgar Lamp on April 13, 2010 at 5:20 AM Comments comments (0)

ABIDE WITH ME

Saved by the Father’s gift of wondrous grace;

Raised from my sleep to see Thy shining face;

Life everlasting, Lord, with Thee I’ll spend;

Praising Thy name in glory without end.

So in this hope I live from day to day,

Knowing that Thou wilt keep me in Thy way;

Not life nor death, nor any other thing,

Can separate us, O my Lord and King.

I gladly pledge my life to this good news

If Thou wilt send, I never will refuse;

Thou, Christ, my Savior, rest I find in Thee,

My joy is full if Thou abide with me.
